A million stars in the sky
A thousand questions to wonder why. A hundred reasons to try. A dozen lessons to call my mind.
I thought I still had about 3 weeks left on my visa, though when I arrived to Colombia I was made aware I had exactly 2 days left. Yikes.
Carolina was an angel and our hopes for a sweet reunion became a frantic scramble to reapply for my new visa, then request an extension to remain in the country for another month while the visa processes.
We got super lucky and Carolina had cousins visiting Santa Marta and we were invited to stay with them on the beach for 5 nights.. which was really the best way we could have hoped to share our time coming back together after almost a month apart.
On one of my trips to the immigration office I stopped by the music shop and borrowed a guitar so I could record something for my song of the week, I got a little chord progression down and took that voice memo back to the beach.
Later that night I listened to the guitar while writing the lyrics, then took Carolina’s phone out to the beach and played the guitar part from my phone while recording the vocals on Carolina’s phone.
I thought it was gonna be a throw away week but something about the background noise of busy Santa Marta combined with the ocean sounds from that night makes me happy and I ended up enjoying the unique demo I got for this one.
The prompt for this week was:
“a million stars in the sky”
Thanks for listening! 👆👂🙏

A million stars in the sky
A thousand questions to wonder why
A hundred reasons to try
A dozen lessons to calm my mind
If I could fly and never die
I’d carry you to the sunset
To be alone one more night
And kiss you under the moonlight
I saw a shooting star and wished upon
Its blazing trail
That I could learn how to become a better man one day
Then I was pulled into a galaxy so far away
And I got what I need, it was a little life with you
A million stars in the sky
A thousand questions to wonder why
A hundred reasons to try
A dozen lessons to calm my mind
If I could fly and never die
I’d carry you to the sunset
To be alone one more night
And kiss you under the moonlight
And Id give it all that I got
Just to get more time alone
When I try and I fail a lot
I get better I know
I’m not afraid to take a chance in life
To get things right
Shooting star make a wish
To be together til the end
We’re into the thick of rain season at the farm, which means power issues and there’s been a problem with our wifi and have been without it for 10 days.
In some ways it feels like how it should be, however for the foreseeable future I’m bound to the internet to make a living for our family. So we’ve been going into town for the day to work, and rushing back to the farm before the rains begin.
Soon it should all be sorted.. I feel like the only thing that can save us is Elon Musk and his Star link.. if you know a guy with a family discount- let me know!
We’re getting so excited for our trip to Ohio coming up. I’m honored to get to play music for a dear friends wedding. I’m learning their love song they have together and also writing an original for them inspired by their story.
Then in October we have the purpose spark family gathering, a wholesome weekend camp out at our friends beautiful farm. Things are looking up ⬆️.
Thanks for walking with me..
(PS… the internet just came back 🕊️)
