An eclipse of the chapter
I’ve been meaning to tell you that I’m beginning to break through. But the minute I saw you, ripped a mirage to dissolve where I got to. Did I get to you? Did I get to me?
Thanks for listening 👂 ☝️
Lyrics:
Been away too long
But there’s something I’ve been after
An eclipse of the chapter
There and hereafter the circling of
Well it’s on my mind
Something to believe in
Just a reach beyond reason
Lift up my hands to the muttering sky
Lord knows I’ve been
Sick and tired before
Don’t play can’t win
But I guess it’s the work I adore
And I fear for the near distractions
Tools used that are taking my time
I’m not hear to appease the masses
But it’s it’s real then it pleases my mind
Work on the subtleties
Stay focused upon all the little things
The details of light through the maple leafs
Am I righting my wrongs
The lips of the dawn
As she rises me up
Your kiss my wish
Your will my gift
Science is unsure what to make of all this
And I’ve been meaning to tell you
That I’m beginning to break through
But the minute I saw you
Ripped a mirage to resolve where I got to
Did I get to you?
Did I get me?
Wherever I got to I wonder if I could repeat
The Bogard’s are on tour.
What a blessing. I get to tour the country with my dad. Tour manager and bus driver. Not only do we make a great team, but we get to make priceless memories together out here on the road. That shit makes me cry. Good cry.
Already from Dayton Ohio to southern Indiana to pick up the bus and the band, down to Blackwell, Missouri to a play a festival for the eclipse, to a planet fitness parking lot to actually watch the eclipse, over to Atlanta to the first club show, and now here we are in Gainesville, Florida about to rock the second club show of the tour. It’s quite the adventure.
I’ve always said tour is a ceremony. It’s a spiritual boot camp. Everyday there’s a new challenge, a new experience, a new perspective, and a new Walmart parking lot.
I get to see the power of music every night. I’m in the room watching the people connect and move energy, let go of some shit they’ve been holding onto, dance and make new friends. I’m always grateful for the reminders that this whole thing is bigger than any one person or a band. We get to exercise our rite to gather, which in this world right now feels very important. And when we gather together, there is a spirit that meets us. Something magic is there if you’re paying attention.
In other news I’m launching a new retreat at our farm in Colombia for July 7th-12th! In collaboration with one of my best friends Scott Stone. Next week I’ll drop more details about it here but for anyone who is interested just reach out to me- there is very limited spaces available, but I would gladly give a little discount to anyone who read my blog and listens to my song every week 😂.
Here’s a little rough draft of the poster that’s getting some changes but we are getting there.
I’ve also realized while writing this blog that I never take pictures or take video. And normally I don’t mind- but here I am in tour having some epic times and i’d love to be able to share more of that with you.
So for this week I’m gonna make it a goal to document more of the random things we get into. Maybe see how artistic I can get with photography inside the different Walmarts around the country.
Thanks for listening and reading.
